Affiliation: The New York Underground, known leader of The Gorgons.

Personality: To those he sees as equals he is a rather nice guy, though he sees humans as lower life forms, and despises mutants with no true mutations. Though he believes that his former self died as soon as his genes mutated, there are still some pieces of that person left, for example he still loves animals.

Background: A long time ago on a trip to Africa Chimera (or rather who he was) got attacked by a lion, and in that moment his genes mutated. After fighting for his life, he somehow survived.  He slowly made his way to back to New York, by absorbing the traits from various animals that were useful to his needs at the time. For years since his return to New York he has dwelled in the under world of New York. There used to be several gangs that all fought for territory down in the old city of New York. In those days there were three powerful gangs, those who followed chimera, those who followed medusa, and those who followed the Ferryman. After a brutal turf war all that was left was the three leaders, so Chimera told the other surviving leaders of his plan. They joined together as one gang that in time became known as The Gorgons, and now years later they plot their return to the world above following the plan Chimera told them on that fateful day so many years ago.

The power took over its human host when the cells mutated leaving a hybrid of a Lion, Gorilla, Scorpion, and a bat. Having access to all the physical attributes of animals they have come into contact with the host is able to shift his body as needed. Having that ability the host is also able to utilize certain abilities from each animal making it difficult to know what to expect from him.


Animal abilities:

Lion – Night vision

Gorilla – Beyond Human strength

Scorpion – Poison tipped tail

Bat - wings, sonar 

Cheetah – Speed (on all fours)

Fish – Gills, Fins

Chameleon – camouflage


Using this power Chimera plans on setting things in motion to save the planet from the humans that are slowly killing mother earth. Thus creating a better world for animals along with those mutants that have fully surpassed the human being, for now he harbors those who cannot be accepted above. In time he will use his gifts to bring his people from the shadows and prove they are the new superior race on planet earth.


One big weakness is that he can never look like a human again or he won’t since humans are a weaker race… no one knows for sure. Another is that use of some abilities will require him to move in a certain manner (for example as a Cheetah he had to run on all four) giving him limits to how he can use those abilities. Finally he must first make contact with a creature in order to gain any of its abilities so he can’t just have a power.

The power of chimera gives it’s host the use of many deadly abilities like poison, and beyond human strength making it a force to be reckoned. Besides it’s deadly uses it also has many not other abilities to aid it’s host in most any situations like night vision, speed, and camouflage. Yet he is not able to hide so well among humans making it so he has to use others to gather information without letting the humans know of his existence.
